Share and learn about building a comprehensive volunteer handbook! When registering for this session, participants will be asked to submit electronic versions of their volunteer handbooks/manuals. Sharing ideas and concrete examples along with facilitated discussion will allow participants to share the functionality of their handbooks and their reasoning behind selecting certain elements for inclusion in their program's volunteer handbook. After the session, participants will have access to electronic copies of any forms that are released for sharing.

Provide associates from various database management companies (Volgistics, The Razors Edge, etc.) or experienced volunteer management users to provide explanations of database benefits and user management that would be useful to volunteer managers. The session will review a database comparison chart that they will have access to for future needs.

The session will explore different options for performing background checks and look at various background check companies, comparing costs, services, turnaround time, etc. Experts will also be present to facilitate breaking down different types of offenses to help volunteer managers and organizations determine what types of offenses are acceptable and unacceptable for volunteers within their organization.

This session will cover fundraising solicitations from volunteers and explore best practices around asking volunteers to contribute financially as well as with their time. The focus will include defining the different types of donors (financial, in-kind and time). In addition we will address approaches and talk about value the value of volunteers both in their contributions both through service and financially.
